Volunteer Info

Volunteers are Needed
Volunteers for the Finney County Humane Society are needed in several of the following areas:

  • Transporting Animals
  • Helping on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. to walk dogs
  • Providing Temporary Foster Homes for Animals

What can I do to help?
You can help out by being a responsible pet owner. Spay/Neuter, immunize, and tag your pet. Know the City and County ordinances and resolutions related to pet ownership

Spay or Neuter Your Pets
Many large dogs have 6-12 puppies in one litter. Cats can breed even faster than dogs. You can make a difference by preventing unwanted litters.

Be a Responsible Pet Owner
Keep your dog on a leash or in a fenced yard when outdoors. Keep your cat safe in the house. Purchase a city tag for your pet so if it gets lost it can be traced. Immunize your animals as early as possible to protect them and other animals from many debilitating and deadly diseases.

Adopt a Pet
Adopt a pet from the Finney County Humane Society or directly from the Animal Shelter. Adoption hours are daily from 11:00- 12:00 and 1:00- 5:00. Saturday afternoon adoption hours are 1:00- 5:00.

Join FCHS
Join the Finney County Humane Society. Annual dues are $15 for an individual or $25 for a family membership. You’ll be in good company with other concerned animal lovers.

Donate Money
The FCHS is a non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Your/donation will help sponsor our spay/neuter program, board animals, buy pet food, provide veterinary care, advertise for adoptions. The society has no paid staff. All donations go directly to benefit the animals and support a Community Education Program. Please send donations to PO Box 2031 Garden City, Ks 67846.

Donate Goods and Services
Can you or your business sponsor advertising, donate pet food, leashes, collars, grooming, animal shelter supplies? If you have supplies you want to donate, please drop them off at the animal shelter.

Become a Foster Home
Be a foster home for an animal who needs tender loving care between adoption opportunities. For more information contact the Garden City / Finney County Animal Shelter.
