Adoption Policies

Each animal adopted will have the following fees:

Adoption fee – $11.00
(includes worming and distemper/parvo shots)

City/County Tag fee – $2 (no charge)
(Does not include collar, fee is waived if you live outside Finney County)

Rabies shot – $17.00
(can be waived if animal has current shots)

Additionally all animals adopted from the shelter who are not already spayed or neutered will have the following fees:

Female Dog Spay Fee – $107.00

Male Dog Neuter Fee – $87.00

Female Cat Spay Fee – $92.00

Male Cat Neuter Fee – $67.00

After you have paid your fees for the animal, you may take your new pet to the veterinarian of your choice to have the spaying/neutering and shots done. Your veterinarian will then bill the city for the portion of the fee you have prepaid to the shelter at the time of the adoption. If the services cost more than the more than the prepayment, you will be responsible for paying the difference. If your prepayment is in excess of the actual charges, you can apply to the city for a refund of the difference.

Adoption Rebate
Upon completion of the vaccinations and neutering/spaying of your adopted pet or pets, you can take a copy of the receipt(s) and send them to the Finney County Humane Society at P.O. Box 2031 Garden City, KS 67846 for a $50 rebate per adopted animal. You must have proof that you have had all required procedures per adopted animal to qualify.
